Join the Beaufort Players

Thinking of joining?

Beaufort Players are a small group of around 40 members which means there are always plenty of ways to get involved.   It is a friendly, welcoming group who share a passion for drama.   We usually produce three plays a year and are very excited to have resumed productions again post-lockdown. Rehearsals are usually around 10 weeks, rehearsing on Wednesday and Thursday evenings, with some weekends closer to the performances.   If you are not involved as an actor, don’t forget that we always need people to help with set, props, costumes, make up, backstage, sound and lighting  – it’s a great way to get to know everyone!

Do I need experience?

The group is open to everyone who wants to be involved; experienced or not.   You don’t need to audition to join and would be welcome to come along on a Wednesday evening to meet members and see what we are about.   We have a good reputation and produce a wide variety of plays – thrillers, comedies, Shakespeare, pantomimes, contemporary drama and new work written by members.    It is definitely a chance to explore your talents.   We also host regular Green Room Nights, specially aimed at new members, so you can get a feel for the group.  These are usually drama games, play readings, with plenty of time to chat!

Is there a social side?

If you are giving up your free time, we reckon it should be fun!  Rehearsals and set building are a crucial part of what we do and we aim for a supportive atmosphere that is enjoyable as well as pushing you to achieve your best.    In addition, there are social events for members such as theatre outings, meals at local hostelries, as well as our annual Summer and New Year parties.

What a friendly group!

If you’d like to be part of a thriving and expanding drama group, then why not pay us a visit and see if we’re for you?

We usually meet every Wednesday evening from 8pm to 10.30pm at the Ascension Hall in Ealing   and promise you a warm welcome, a hot drink, something resembling a biscuit, and no pressure to join! If you would like to come along, please let us know in advance so we can make sure there is somebody to meet you.

An ideal opportunity to be social after lockdown?

If you’re interested in getting involved with the Beaufort Players, please join our New Talent mailing list to keep up with all the latest goings on, from readings and auditions; to backstage work and social events.

How much is membership?

Membership costs just £80. A concession rate of £72 applies to members who are retired, unemployed or in full-time education. New members who are unsure about committing to the group may pay a special £20 fee to audition for the first time. Should they be cast in a production, the remainder of the subscription will be due immediately. If you are unable to pay the full amount, individual circumstances can be considered by the committee.

The membership year starts with the Summer production and includes the following Autumn and Spring productions. Once the Autumn production has been cast, new members may pay a half-sub to join for only the Spring 2025 production.

The majority of our membership are over the age of 18. If you are under the age of 18, you can still join the group, however you must be accompanied at all times by a parent or guardian (who must also be a member) whilst taking part in activities with the group. Those aged 16 or 17 can join the group annually at the concession rate, whereas those under the age of 16 can join the group for a single production only by paying the equivalent of the audition fee. Note that we rarely have more than one production per year suitable for children to be a part of.
